ASUS and Microsoft will release two new handheld gaming PCs, the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X, on October 16, 2025, empireonline.com reported on September 25. According to reports from GameSpot, the standard model will be priced at $600, while the higher-performance Ally X will cost $1,000. The primary differences between the models are internal specifications. The $600 Ally includes an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, while the $1,000 Ally X is equipped with a more powerful AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. [5, 10] Both versions share a 7-inch, 120Hz Full HD display. [5, 11] While the handhelds run on Windows 11, they boot directly into a console-style Xbox interface but retain the flexibility to install and run games from other PC storefronts like Steam. [6, 7] ASUS announced that pre-orders for both models began on September 26. [10]
