Nintendo of America announced that President and COO Doug Bowser will retire on December 31, 2025, after more than a decade with the company. [1] Bowser has served as president since April 2019, when he succeeded Reggie Fils-Aimé. [2, 5] He joined Nintendo in 2015 as the vice president of sales and marketing and oversaw the North American launch of the successful Nintendo Switch console. [2, 7] During his presidency, the company expanded into theme parks and films, including The Super Mario Bros. Movie. [1, 9, 10] The company did not state a reason for his retirement. [1]
Devon Pritchard, a 19-year company veteran, will succeed Bowser as president and COO, becoming the first woman to hold the role at Nintendo of America. [1, 3] Pritchard is currently the executive vice president of revenue, marketing, and consumer experience. [5] Additionally, Satoru Shibata will join Nintendo of America as its new chief executive officer while retaining his roles at the parent company, Nintendo Co., Ltd. [1, 3, 6]
