Android Police and other outlets reported on October 1, 2025, that Google's Pixel Buds Pro 2 are receiving a surprise update that adds a battery-monitoring feature similar to one offered by Apple. [1] The update allows the earbuds to show individual battery percentages for the case and each earbud, and this information is shared across all connected Pixel devices. [1] This new capability is part of the firmware version 4.467, which began rolling out in late September 2025. [1, 2] To see the battery details, users must activate the Pixel Battery widget. [1]
The firmware also includes several audio features that were previously announced. [2] An "Adaptive Audio" mode automatically adjusts noise control based on the user's environment, while "Loud Noise Protection" reduces the volume of sudden, loud sounds like sirens. [4, 7] The update also adds head gestures, allowing users to nod to answer a call or shake their head to decline it. [5, 8] Google is rolling out these features to users gradually. [4]
